The Legend of TUCTUStanding on our balconies or Sky Deck, you see the formation in front of you known as “Bell Rock”. The Indians that once lived in this area, called this mountain “Tuctu”. If you look closely, you can see his face, looking up into the sky. The middle of the rock is his nose, extending to the highest point. Look to the left and his eye sinks into a low point. On the right, his mouth, showing very clearly the top and bottom lip, and if the sun is just right, a cheek is also visible. At the top of Tuctu’s head is a feather, at the extreme left, showing that he is an important spiritual leader. The Indians believed he is the guardian of Sedona, those that are brave enough to pass him are entering a very sacred land. A land that is to be respected, to be used only for religious and spiritual ceremonies, to touch the earth and this very special place. Remember this as you pass Tuctu, honor this land the way the ancient people did, remember their legend, and be careful, Tuctu watches the skies and your dreams! Sedona Energy Systems |
